Biography
I was born in the UK in 1958, in Birmingham, England.
I now live in Scholar Green, near Stoke-on-Trent and for 6 months a year in Hurghada on the Red Sea in Egypt.
I'm now retired from being a electrical / electronic maintenance engineer.
I became interested in photography in 1978, whilst serving in the British Army (REME) and due to the extensive traveling to unusual places, took up photography as a hobby.
My other passion (except my wife) is scuba diving. I learnt to dive during my time in the Army again and then took up diving some years later, after leaving the Army. I am a BSAC, SSI, DAN & 1st Aid instructor and I tie my love of photography and diving now to practice underwater photography.
I also really enjoy wildlife photography, especially bird, general nature and travel photography. I quite often attend wildlife photography workshops in the hope of improving my images. I travel weekly to different nature reserves to get my fix of wildlife & photography.
My choice of camera equipment manufacturer is Nikon. I use the D500 plus 35mm film camera's in the form of F80 & F5 (only rarely as film is expensive) and my lenses of choice are both Nikon & Sigma lenses (I have about 30 different lenses....). My number one lens is a Sigma 150-600mm which I love and use all the time. I have Ikelite underwater housings and flashes for the Nikon camera systems for underwater work, I use a GoPro 12 for most diving.
